Intro

A web-services company that offered CRM, automation, and web development services to e-commerce vendors has decided to transform into a products company by offering their internal systems as SaaS products for existing clients. This move aimed to expand the company's services to new industries, but left clients to handle operations, maintenance, and development by themselves.

Challenge

The company struggled with profitability due to its inability to meet client service expectations, transitioning from a secondary party to a tertiary provider, leading to significant contract losses, recruitment challenges, and a lack of market position due to its alienation from its client base.

Process

The company's problem arose due to a loss of relevance in clients' eyes, as it stopped providing tailored development solutions to specific challenges. To address this, the company examined its product line purpose, and how it relates to the company's narrative, which initially aimed to serve e-commerce clients through technological solutions to their problems.

 The company's mission was reformed from utilizing technologies to assist e-commerce companies, to "providing businesses with relevant consumer data", by highlighting important data, pointing out anomaly and summarising data as insights... Their product suite changed to aid vendors to gather consumer data and apply tailored actions on customers, enhancing the natural and consistent interaction between companies and their customers.
